The Danish National Chamber Orchestra enjoys a broader repertoire than any other orchestra in Denmark. Ever since its foundation in 1939 it has aimed to provide audiences with musical entertainment of the highest caliber in every conceivable genre. As a result the orchestra not only plays but also initiates a wide range of fascinating genre fusions: rock, ballet, jazz, folksongs, musicals, Mozart ... the Danish National Chamber Orchestra refuses to limit the musical challenges it takes on.
Headed up by its chief conductor, Adam Fischer, the orchestra has achieved a leading position in the classical field. Mozart suits the 42-man band particularly well, and having played and recorded the five great opera seria Adam Fischer and the Danish National Chamber Orchestra have now embarked on Mozart's symphonies. They plan to play them all over the next five years. The first DC of the eleven CD series was released early in 2007. It contains symphonies 15 to 18.
On the beat front the Danish National Chamber Orchestra is known as the Danish Radio Concert Orchestra and has been putting on mass concerts for years now, featuring top artists from at home and abroad. The Danish Radio Concert Orchestra was the first orchestra to present the symphonic version of Procul Harum to Scandinavian audiences. This made the DR Castle Concerts 2006 into the event of the year, attracting Procul Harum fans from all over the world
In 2007 the Danish Radio Concert Orchestra is mounting a brand-new musical, MATADOR, based on the most popular Danish television series ever made. The musical will be premiered at Operaen, the new opera house in Copenhagen; the 35000 tickets all went within two weeks of going on sale, and a new season was immediately anounced for 2008.
Finally, the Danish Radio Concert Orchestra is now an important factor in the film industry. Because it is familiar with every style and genre it is able to work quickly and confidently, making it highly competitive in terms of price and quality.
